October Dear Cascade Families, With a full month of school completed, we are in full swing. Homecoming week is September 30th through Friday, October 4th. Come watch the volleyball teams take on Dutton Thursday night, and the football teams tackle Choteau on Friday. The parade will begin at 3:15 on Friday. Please sign the permission slip allowing your child to participate and attend this fun event. As this is my first year organizing Homecoming, I’m learning I have a lot to learn! Please email me suggestions you would like to see incorporated next year. I truly want to see this event bring the community closer together in support of past, current, and future Cascade Badgers. October is a month to focus on safety. We are hosting a FREE Farm Safety workshop on October 12th, from 9:00-12:00 PM. The session will cover general farm safety, emergency readiness, first aid tips, and chemical safety. It is Fire Prevention Month. Please take time to review your escape routes and meeting spot in case of fire at home. We also practice our earthquake safety procedures during the Great Shakeout on October 22nd. Last year, I was at school when a 7.0 earthquake hit. Thanks to our drills and preparation, we made it through the ordeal successfully. As the weather gets cooler, please reinforce appropriate clothing choices in case of emergency evacuations and outdoor activities. We want our kids to safe and warm. As we come to close the first quarter October 16th, please encourage your student to take advantage of our LAST Friday school for first quarter on October 11th. We offer reteaching and resources, just show up between 9:00-12:00. Our first Friday school of second quarter will be October 25th. Remember, there is NO SCHOOL October 17th and 18th. Other events of interest are as follows: Fall Band Concert on October 8th at 7:00pm, picture retakes on October 14th, the bookfair October 21st-24th, Family/School Conferences October 22nd and 24th, and the elementary costume parade on October 31st. Only elementary students will be dressing in costume. Thank you for your cooperation. Respectfully, Nichole Piepernichole.pieper@cascade.k12.mt.us
