Cascade Public Schools POWER OF ICU What is ICU?  ICU stands for Intensive Care Unit, just like in a hospital.  ICU is an academic support system for students and communication tool for teachers and parents and is built around a school-wide electronic database that tracks missing assignments.  All students will learn, and learn at high levels. All students will complete every assignment at a 70% or better.  Students learn quickly if they have one missing or poor quality assignment, their grade is sick and needs attention.   Students with missing or poor quality assignments have their names placed on an ICU list that can be viewed by all staff members.  Students are asked by a variety of staff members: "Who do you owe?"  "What do you owe?"  "What do you need?"  "How can I help?"  Staff members re-teach content material and provide students with extra assistance to complete their work: before school, after school, Homework Club (Monday-Thursday 3:51-5:00), Badger Time, and Friday School (9:00-12:00).  Names are removed from the ICU list when assignments are completed and quality work has been done. We believe that the academic success of students is dependent on the efforts of teachers, students, administrators, and parents.  We ask parents to communicate with their child on a regular basis about practice.  We also encourage parents/guardians to regularly communicate with the teachers to ensure their child is completing assigned work.  It is crucial that parents, teachers, and administrators are all on the same page and convey the message that “All students will complete all assignments and do quality work.”  If your child’s name is placed on the ICU List:  You will receive a text and/or an email message.  Your child will be given an opportunity to complete the assignment on his/her own.  If the work remains unfinished, additional arrangements may become necessary for your child to complete the assignment (e.g. before school, after school, Friday School, etc.). We look forward to helping your child master the content they need to be prepared for future academic endeavors.- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - PLEASE NOTIFY THE OFFICE IF YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS OR CELL PHONE NUMBER HAS CHANGED.                                                                                           SeptemberDear Families, The school year is off to a great start! I love seeing our students learning in their classrooms.  As the weather gets cooler, it’s time to support our hard-working student athletes. We have cross country running meets, football, and volleyball games we hope to see you at. Our cheer club is meeting weekly and would love to have your help cheering on the Black and Gold! We will have our first fire drill this month. Teachers have been reviewing procedures and practicing safely exiting the school in case of emergency. We are taking a good look at our emergency procedures this year, and welcome thoughts and suggestions from the community. Please email me with your feedback. We are taking our student support to the next level with our ICU philosophy on student learning. Our job is to help your child learn the standards Montana determined appropriate for the various subjects. Our vision is every student will learn, and learn at high levels. Our formula for success is Completion, Quality Assignments, and Healthy Grading. Students will get extra time to complete assignments. Families and the student will be notified by text and/or by email when the student is put on the ICU list for late or poor quality work. Stay tuned for more detailed information on how we are going to make our vision a reality.  Cascade Public Schools will be hosting our very first family night of the year September 24th. It will be a Math Night, consisting of math related games and activities, plus some ideas on where to find math support in the event your child needs it. As this is a Family Night, children need to be accompanied by a supervision adult the entire time. Thank you for your cooperation and participation! Homecoming is right around the corner! ANNUAL HEARING SCREENINGS During the month of October 2019, annual hearing screenings will be conducted on all Kindergarten, 1st and 9th grade students. Any student who is new to the school district will also be screened during this time. Our Audiologist will be asked to see students with known hearing losses, and those that fail the screening. If this applies to your child and if you wish to decline the hearing screening for any reason, please notify the school office or Christy Ross using the contact information below.Hearing screenings may also be conducted for your child at any time upon request, regardless of age or grade. Cascade Public Schools and the Cascade Business Department are pleased to announce that the Stockmens Bank is once again sponsoring the Stockmens Bank Financial Literacy Program for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years. Stockmens Bank has proudly sponsored this program since 2014.  Through this public-private partnership, Stockmens Bank is able to bring the award-winning Everfi-Financial Literacy/Vault-Understanding Money technology platform to Cascade School.  This provides our students with access to a cutting-edge curriculum that will enable the students to become certified in Financial Literacy.  The EverFi-Financial Literacy platform contains 10 modules that cover topics such as credit scores, budgeting, insurance, credit cards, student loans, mortgages, taxes, stocks savings, and many other financial concepts.Cascade School and the Business Department would like to thank Stockmens Bank for providing this great opportunity for our students.Cathy Workman

August 2, 2019  Dear Cascade Families,  Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! I’m honored to begin my first year at Cascade School District as your Junior High/High School principal.    Five years ago, my husband and I bought property here, with the goal of raising our daughters in this amazing community. This opportunity is literally my dream come true. I grew up in Helena, earned my teaching degree from Montana State University in Bozeman, and moved to Alaska for an adventure. I taught for eleven years, earning British Petroleum’s Teacher of Excellence Award. I achieved my Master’s Degree from Grand Canyon University and worked two years as an instructional coach in a Title 1 school. I am excited to put my skills and years of training to work as an administrator.  With every school year, there are changes, the biggest being to the school calendar. We will be moving to a four-day school week, Monday-Thursday. We will begin our school day at 8:00 a.m. as usual but will release EK-3 at 3:45 p.m. and grades 4-12 at 3:51 p.m. There are two Fridays scheduled for students to attend. The first Friday is our Homecoming on October 4, 2019. The other is the last Friday before Christmas break, December 20, 2019. Please feel free to contact me, or any other administrator, if you have any questions regarding our new school schedule.  I would like to welcome Erin Rollins to the staff as our new science teacher.   Our Back to School Night is Thursday, August 15, between 5:30-7:00.  We will have a BBQ provided by Xcell! in the cafeteria during this time. Please join us so we can get to know one another better, and you can visit your child’s classrooms and meet with his/her teachers.  Please feel free to stop in and discuss your child’s education with me.
