Badger Player of the WeekWeeks of October 10th and October 17th High SchoolJames Lewis James is a prime example of a student athlete and leader. James led the team last week against a very good Ennis team- James was 17/31 for 279 yards and 5 touchdowns and the game came down to the very end. James has had a very good career for the Badger football program and I will miss his toughness and leadership. Coach DirkKylee FinnThe Badger Volleyball team would like to honor and appreciate Kylee Finn, “Finn” as we call her, as athlete of the week. Finn, moved from Texas in the Summer and has quickly become a great teammate and friend to many. Finn is getting back into volleyball after taking a couple years off to pour her heart into marching band in Texas. Finn is not only a hardworking defensive specialist for the JV Squad, but she continues to step up and help wherever she is needed. Finn is very organized and quick to learn. She quickly filled the role as statistician and manager for the Varsity squad. “Finn has filled an important role on our team, a role that does not get much recognition but for me is a role that is as important as a varsity starting position. She meticulously maintains our stats, checks all of our supplies and uniforms before bus trips, and helps to organize line judges and table workers. I really have enjoyed and appreciated Finn’s dedication to our team and her willingness to fill a role wherever needed.” -Coach Liz Junior HighDrake LangeDrake Lange is an 8th grader and has been a stand out performer both on and off the football field all season. As the quarterback he is the on-field leader, delivering the football where it needs to go while making sure his teammates are in the correct position and run the correct plays. From a performance aspect, Drake is cool under pressure and makes great football decisions and can lead his team to either a passing or running a score from anywhere on the field. He has ran and passed for multiple touchdowns throughout the season but his decision-making ability is what makes him stand out most as he is consistently able to read a defense and deliver the football to the right teammate at the right time. Drake has been selected as team captain five times this season and his positive, can-do attitude is infectious and sets the standard for the rest of the team.Cache Carroll Cache Carrol is an 8th grader and has been a stand out performer both on and off the football field all season. Cache anchors both the defensive and offensive lines, helping lead the Badgers to a 4-3 record with all losses at 8 points or less. His tough, workman's approach has been a model of consistency all season, one his teammates and coaches have come to rely upon. Cache can consistently be seen chasing down ball carriers and quarterbacks and has a knack for coming up with a big stop anytime the Badgers need one. His quiet yet steady leadership style gives the team a calming presence and the belief that the team can accomplish their goals no matter the obstacle. Cache has been selected as a team captain three times this season and he sets the toughness and consistency standard for the rest of the team.
