Bomb Threat Update

Cascade Community,This is Levi Collins, Superintendent of Cascade Schools, giving you an update on the bomb threat received Tuesday evening on 1/16/2024.On Tuesday 1/16/2024, around 8:30 pm MST, one of our board members received a bomb threat for our school and immediately contacted me. I called emergency numbers and was told I would be contacted with further information. In the meantime, I contacted some of the school administrative team to discuss the situation and make a plan. Based on the information we had at that time, we decided the best option was to cancel school until law enforcement had a chance to review the evidence and recommend how to proceed.  While the threat seemed like it had a high likelihood of being a hoax, we decided that we would not take this threat lightly when all of our kids in the community were involved in the situation. We decided to cancel school around 9:00 pm as we did not know how long it would take to investigate the situation and we wanted to get the message out before bedtime or early enough so people could make alternative plans for the following day.   On 1/17/2024, around 1:30 AM, law enforcement and K9 units checked the interior and exterior of our school for any evidence of bomb-related material. The K9 unit did not find any evidence of a bomb or any material for making one. They will eventually check all schools that received the threat just to be sure, but it is more likely than not a hoax across the whole state.  Cascade Schools will remain closed for normal operations on 1/17/24 for logistical reasons.  The building has been cleared, however, so normal operations will resume on 1/18/24 as we, in conjunction with local law enforcement, believe the threat is not viable.  Please see the team reach app for any sports related updates from the athletic department. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please feel free to contact the school.  We will likely not answer phones today (no one or only a few people in the building), but we will answer emails or call back tomorrow.  Thank you.    Cascade Schools Administration

School Closure

Cascade parents, families, and community members, At approximately 8:30 this evening 1/16 we received a bomb threat via email. The administration has made the decision to cancel school and all school-related events and activities for Wednesday, January 17th.  While the threat level appears to be low and not immediate, we are not taking any chances and want to exercise caution until the authorities can clear the building of any posed threat.  Again, the school will be canceled tomorrow Wednesday 1/17. We will be in communication on our plan to re-open. Administration will be working with the authorities to ensure that our students and staff are safe before returning to the building.
