SPRING BREAK

We are on SPRING BREAK. There is limited access to the building this week. See you back at school next week.

STAFF PIR SECURITY TRAINING

Cascade School Employees spent Friday's PIR (Pupil-Instruction-Related training) with security and safeguarding our students and schools. Members of the Cascade County Sheriff's Office were on hand to provide ALICE, that's Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate active-shooter training, to the staff. A Google search for Alice security training will show several ALICE YouTube training vides that were viewed before the staff did their hands-on, literally hands-on training. Best training to date. The CCSO deputies will be back later to share the training with our students in their classrooms, to help get everybody on the same page when it comes to countering an active shooter situation in our school.

LOCKDOWN DRILL

Cascade Schools will be practicing a Lock Down drill today beginning at 2pm and lasting about 15 minutes. After the Lock Down alarm is sounded, teachers will lock/close their classroom doors and assemble students in their seats or on the floor and urge them to be quiet so any noises heard throughout the building can be reported to school officials or emergency responders. At a slightly lower alert level, for your information, a Shelter-in-Place will also lock all classroom doors, but continue instruction with no personnel moving around the building. In either case, outer doors will remain closed and locked during the drill, and no one except for emergency responders will be allowed into the building until the all clear is given. We want our students to be aware, and be prepared to deal with emergencies at school. Staff will continue emergency response preparations on Friday, our P I R (non-student) day, when members of Cascade County Sheriffs Office will be on site for training. If you have an inquiry, please contact the Safety Officer, Mr. Sukut, at the school. Thank you.

MTSBA SUPT SEARCH

The Cascade School Board would like your ideas for two questions that will be inserted into the MTSBA application that prospective superintendents will answer as part of the application process. Because we are near the end of the optimal time to advertise for superintendents we will be needing the questions by Friday March 9th at 2pm. If you have any ideas you can either email them to Board Chair Rick Cummings (email rick.cummings@cascade.k12.mt.us) or you can bring them to the committee meeting scheduled for 2pm Friday March 9th. A few example questions provided by MTSBA are posted below. Thank you, Rick Cummings, Board Chair.Sample Supplemental Questions: 1.  Please describe your leadership style when it comes to supervising employees, delegating responsibilities and problem solving. 2.  One of the key roles that any Superintendent plays is that of an academic and educational leader. Please explain how your background and experience as an educational leader will move the students of this district to an even higher level of achievement? 3.  Describe how you have promoted parent and community involvement/support for our school system and how you would see yourself accomplishing that goal. 4.  Identify three qualities, which will characterize successful educators in the next decade and reflect on the personal/professional attributes you bring to the superintendency which demonstrates those qualities. 5.  The community has a diverse population with a broad span of interest in local education efforts. How would you reach out to the different constituencies, both within the school system and throughout the community, to help everyone focus upon quality education and higher student achievement?
