BUS DRIVER SHORTAGE

After School Bus To Be Canceled Due To Bus Driver Shortage Due to a shortage of bus drivers, Cascade Schools will no longer be able to offer the daily 6:15 p.m. after-school activity bus route to Ulm and Wolf Creek. This will be effective as of November 19, 2015. The District has made every effort to provide students with transportation where possible. The Cascade School District is one of Montana’s largest districts, serving nearly 2400 square miles, and 793 daily bus route miles. Cascade has historically provided transport to the neighboring Ulm and Wolf Creek students, which has included the after-school bus for easy inclusion of extra-curricular activities. A fully staffed transportation department, including substitute drivers, has made these services possible. However, the ongoing difficulty of finding full-time drivers just to maintain regular established routes has been a challenge. Neighboring districts are facing the same shortage and challenges. Running the additional late-night bus will no longer be possible due to the shortage. Those interested in driving bus full time for Cascade Schools should call 406-468-9383. Visit with Damon Schrecengost, Transportation Director, or Becky Smith in the Superintendent’s office.

Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America.   Cascade Schools will be joining the effort during the week of October 26 – 30.  Monday the students will all be given red ribbons which they will wear throughout the week.    K-12 Dress up days will be: Monday – Wear Red Ribbon Tuesday – Hats off to a drug free life style – wear hats Wednesday – Black Out Drugs – Wear Black Thursday – Too Smart to do Drugs – Nerd Day Friday – Wear Red Day

GREAT MONTANA SHAKE OUT

Staff and Students will all be participating in Wednesday's Great Montana Shakeout earthquake drill at 10:21am. We will practice DROP COVER AND HOLD ON for one minute, then evacuate the school in an orderly fashion. This is a statewide drill. Parents and community members are encouraged to participate at home or your place of work. It's easy. All you have to do is YELL THIS IS A DRILL EARTHQUAKE EARTHQUAKE really really loud, then take cover! Beforehand, take a look around your home or business for objects that can fall over and injure you. Perhaps there's a way to attach those to the wall, or not stack them so high. We'd like to hear that our entire community participated. Thanks!

PARENT VOICE SURVEY

The Parent Voice Survey assesses parents' perceptions of their child and his or her experience in the school. By asking parents how they perceive the culture of their child's school, Parent Voice provides educators with a powerful tool for understanding both what motivates and inspires students to achieve and how well parents believe their school is meeting those objectives. This is a short survey. Copy the access code below, click on the link to the survey, and paste the access code to get started. Thanks for taking the time to complete this important survey.   Sample Questions  I feel welcome in my child's school.  My child has a teacher who is a positive role model.  School is preparing my child well for the future.  Learning can be fun.  I encourage my child to make decisions.  My input and opinions are valued at my child's school.   http://www.iknowsurvey.com/survey   Use this access code: 21128e4V4972

INCREASED BUILDING SECURITY

With the opening of the new Student Office in the Commons comes increased building security to insure our students have a safe learning environment. All visitors are asked to enter via the Commons entrance only. The door will be unlocked from 7:15-8:00 am, and again at 3:20-6:15 pm during the school day. To gain access when the doors are locked, push the button on the video announcer and wait to be answered. Once inside the vestibule, the Secretary can issue a Visitor pass. Patience please, as the Secretary may be assisting others on the phone, or in person, ahead of you. We discourage unscheduled visits to classrooms during the school day, as it interrupts the learning process. Please schedule any visits in advance so the teacher, and the school, know you're coming. Parents, if you're running late to drop off kids at school, please come to the Commons entry and get checked in so attendance can be corrected.
