Dear Cascade Families and Community Members,
February quickly flew by us, and we are heading into our last three months of school! I cannot believe how quickly this year is going by. We have quite a few events coming up as we end our third quarter and begin our fourth.
We were pleased to host our annual Reading Night on March 1st. I would like to thank all of the teachers, staff, families, and students who made it a great success. Students were able to pick out books which were donated from teachers and families, make bookmarks to take home, and ten lucky winners were able to go home with Barnes & Noble gift cards which were donated to the event. These family engagement nights are always a great time to get together. They are also essential with helping our children see the importance in learning through the interactions of the adults in their lives.
We were able to celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd with special treats for each student and classroom buddy reading time. Our fifth graders buddied with the kindergarten and early kindergarten classrooms, the fourth grade buddied with the first grade, and the third grade buddied with the second grade. Each group participated in activities that centered around reading together, listening to stories, and making crafts. The students enjoyed sharing their love for reading with each other.
The fourth and fifth grades will be holding their science fair in their classrooms on Tuesday, March 8th. They will begin judging at 1:00 and will be available for parent/public viewing from 3:00-3:30. They have been working hard on researching their topics, developing testable questions, formulating investigations based on their questions, and representing conclusions from their data on their presentation boards. Please feel free to come by so they can share their results and learning!
Our spring Parent/Teacher Conferences will be taking place towards the end of the month. They are scheduled for March 22nd and 24th. This is a great opportunity to be involved in your child’s progress in school, so please meet with the teachers to discuss what is best for your child. The teachers will be sending home information on how to make an appointment. If you do not see the notes within the next week, please contact the teacher so she can get you scheduled. We will do our very best to make your time slot(s) as convenient as possible.
Once again, thank you for all of the support you have shown our teachers and students. We cannot do our jobs in education without your help.
Thank you,
Michelle Price
