This will be a secondary level class, but everyone is invited. Todos estan invitados. Note: No meeting Thursday Feb 11th, family emergency.

LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL

Yippee ki yay, the new internet circuit is now working! Replacing the DSL-circuit over which ran over 4 twisted pairs of copper, the new DS3 circuit runs over two strands of fiber optic cable, and provides a much bigger "pipe" between the school and internet. We've already noticed an improvement in both upload and download speeds. Board Chair Rick Cummings commented at the recent Board meeting that he had detected the new circuit was active because his web pages loaded right away. We'll be MAP testing this week and expect the whole process to update much quicker than before.

WEDSWORTH LIBRARY

The Wedsworth Memorial Library is having its annual used book sale this Saturday 9am-4pm and Sunday 10am-2pm. They're serving homemade soup and bread on Saturday for donation. Proceeds to The Friends of the Library. Volunteers are needed to work the book sale. If interested, contact Melody Skogley at 600-7585.

NSDAR GOOD CITIZENS AWARD

Senior Kacie Cummings was selected as the winner for the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award for the 2015-2016 school year - she was selected from nominees from 28 schools and now is eligible for awards beyond the chapter level. Congrats Kacie.

INFINITE CAMPUS FOR PAYMENTS

We've recently added credit card (Visa, MasterCard, and Discover) and e-check payment options for your child's lunch and activities accounts. To take full advantage of these features, parents or guardians must establish their parent portal account in Infinite Campus. Once logged in, select the Payments button. You may save your credit card and/or your checking account information for later use. All transactions are secure. There is a $2.50 convenience fee per transaction that covers the banking costs. You may still bring or send cash or check to the school to pay for lunch and activities accounts.

FOOD BANK

During the holidays, our local Food Bank gives out as much food as possible! Now it's time to restock the shelves and make sure that no one goes hungry! During the Booster Club Dodgeball Tournament on Dec 27th from noon to 4:00, we will have a bin to collect non-perishable food! Or... You can contact Linda Cotton or Chuck Mercer at the school. They can also collect frozen food, wild game, fish, and other frozen items. Please join us in helping us help others. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD

Cascade High School was awarded the MHSA/US Bank Sportsmanship award, which recognizes achievements in good-sporting behavior for all MHSA activities for the 2014-15 school year being completed without ejection of any student or coach, demonstrating citizenship and sportsmanship in regular and post season competition.  This is just further verification of the outstanding students we have here in Badger Nation, as well as the great job our coaches do in teaching the correct life lessons and in providing leadership by example.   Congratulations!

ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS PROGRAM

The Annual Elementary Christmas Program, Band Concert and Pie Social! The Elementary Christmas Program, "The North Pole Express" will be presented Thursday, December 17, 2015, in the North Gym at 7:00 pm.  This program includes students in grades K-6.  There will be a band concert as well that evening for those students in grades five and six.  The elementary students began working on their songs/tunes the beginning of November and are anxious for you to see the program and hear their band tunes. This will be the first concert for the fifth grade band. They have learned so much-especially since this is their first year playing an instrument.  Please come and support our students and all the work they have done to prepare this evening for you! Immediately following the Elementary Program and Band Concert, our annual Pie Social, hosted by members of the Cascade PTSA (and others!) will be held in the school cafeteria.  We will be ready to serve slices of pie or whole pies as soon as we can after the program!  Prices are the same as last year:  $2.00 per slice and $10.00 for a whole pie.  The proceeds will go to support the Elementary Music Department in purchasing new music, props for the programs, instruments and many other things that the current budget will not allow. We had over 30 pies last year and actually ran out!  If you would be willing to donate a pie or two or some bottled juice, that would be great!  If you are able to bring pies or juice, you can drop them off the evening of the program in the school cafeteria or you may bring them any time during the day of the program.  I have made arrangements with the cafeteria to store them until the social. If you would like any more information or to let me know you would like to donate or help in any way please feel free to contact me (Melody Skogley) at: 468-9380 or 406-600-7585.  I am really looking forward to this event-it is a great time to get together for pie and conversation.  And this year, we do not have school on the day after the program, so you can stay and visit (and eat pie!) for as long as you want!
