Jr High Solo and Ensemble Festival
Cascade had 11 student musicians make the trip to Power for the solo / ensemble festival held on Saturday, April 23rd. Our students all performed very well and represented Cascade School with class. The adjudicator for instrumental events was Mr. Hal Hugg, a music teacher in Great Falls who specializes in band and beginning strings. Mr. Hugg was very pleased with what he heard from our musicians and had good comments on how to improve. There are no ratings given at this festival, the intent is to learn more about making music and being up in front of people. Other than one student who was home sick that day, our performances were as listed in the itinerary below. Soloists included Georgia, Megan, Jacob and Kaitlyn. Duets were performed by Emma and Maddy, Shelby and Emma, Skye and Georgia, Grace and Rachel. Our lone trio was Madison, Grace and Rachel.
During the lunch break the students and teachers were treated to a concert by the Chinook Winds, of the Great Falls Symphony. They performed varied styles of music ranging from a Latin to rock. "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Let It Go" and "Livin' On A Prayer" were among the arrangements performed.
Congratulations to all of you fine young musicians on a job well done!
